Build your own birdbox workshops

The Repair Cafe at Lambs Lane Primary School Spencers Wood would like to extend the service we offer to free workshops to bring the repair/build/reuse ethos to local schools and youth groups

Workshop for up to 30 children.

Age range: 11 -13

We have sourced wood offcuts from local timber merchants and Kingdom Garden Rooms, and have a group of wonderful volunteers who are happy to prepare the offcuts into birdboxes kits.

The kits are precut wood, that need to be assembled and nailed together to create a bird box.

We can provide a kit for each child with all the necessary nails and tacks, safety spectacles

In the workshop

We can discuss the idea of Repair Cafes

We can discuss the purpose of bird boxes and where they should be placed

We assist in making the boxes

The boxes can then be used in the school /local area or taken home.

Options:

To paint the boxes if the children would like to (paint and brushes supplied by us)

Work in pairs if appropriate.

Follow up if it is useful

We are happy to work with each school/group to adapt to the young peoples needs and will be led by them.
